The Musk Ox Farm Palmer

Come learn about the arctic musk ox and see them at our unique working farm where we collect one of the worlds finest fibers: qiviut.

We offer guided educational tours and interactive exhibits where you can learn about the natural history of this remarkable survivor of the last Ice Age, as well as learn about the musk ox domestication project the farm has undertaken for half a century. Our farm shop features fine hand-knit qiviut garments, arts and crafts from local artisans, and more. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the domestication of the musk ox and to the promotion of qiviut production as a gentle and sustainable agricultural practice in the far north, with a focus on public education and providing additional income opportunities to Alaskan Natives.

Parking: Plentiful free parking, including adequate space for large trailers/RVS to get in/out.

Families: An ideal place to take the family. Visitors of all ages will be delighted by the musk ox, and leave with a new understanding of the species and its role in the future of sustainable agriculture.

Disabled Facilities: Our facilities are wheelchair accessible, and the paths through our working farm are navigable, but can be rough.
